DEAR OLD GRAMMA

Written by Laurie Lee Lewis          Illustrated by Callie Anne Lewis

Sometimes the simple and sweet words and questions from a child can be our biggest, strongest teachers.  Dear Old Gramma is just that. A 117 page journalized true story of how Callie, at the age of only 7, experienced the dying and saying goodbye to her Great Grandmother.

The book is written in Callie's words/perspective as if she is writing to her Great Grandmother, from the hospital, hospice, the memorial service to a one-year reflection.

What sets this little book apart is Callie's profound questions, thoughts, and wisdom that she shared with her mama, trying to understand death.  Laurie captured Callie's voice so tenderly. You will laugh and cry in the same sentence.

For parents of young children, this is a beautiful story to read and share. It helps open dialog during such an emotional time or preparing for the inevitable.

For older children it is a terrific book for them to read and to know it is ok to feel and question.

For Grand and Great Grandparents... this book shines a light on what YOU have the opportunity to do while you are here sharing time with your generations. You hold your life experiences to share. YOU are precious teachers. Dear Old Gramma will clearly remind you of this.

The book includes a 3-song CD of Laurie singing INTO THE LIGHT, a song she wrote and sang at her Gramma's service. She also includes a beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace as well as a 3rd song that Callie sing with her (another Laurie original) called GENERATIONS. This is the first recording of this song. There is another version on Laurie's new CD ONE TO ONE, which included her parents and husband joining she and Callie. VERY POWERFUL SONG!
