HOPE-charity song for cancer research
CHORUS TO HOPE:
Hope, for the sunrise tomorrow,
Hope, in the rainbow of today,
we learning, reaching, growing, healing,
HOPE, in a Cancer-free day.
This song has been with me for 3 years. The story behind it briefly goes like this: Only days after having my annual mammogram, I got very sick with the flu, high fever and could barely walk from swollen joints.
On the worst night, trying to sleep, I dozed off for a few minutes and heard the chorus above floating in my fevered brain. I could no longer sleep and hobbled to the living, grabbed a piece of paper and scribbled out the entire song.
The next morning, I was weakly typing the lyrics up on my computer when the phone rang. It was the diagnostic center telling me my mammogram looked very suscpious and could I come in immediately. (This was a Friday) I told them "no." The woman sounded surprised. I told her I was too sick to travel and then told her the irony of the very song about cancer that I was just typing and had written in a fever the night before. She was blown away. On Monday, I went for an ultrasound of the lump. Even the xray tech looked worried as she ultrasounded me. As I laid there (about 10 minutes) and waited for the Dr. to view the xrays, I thought about this song and actually felt at peace. She walked in and said it was "OK".
Just before I left, I sang a piece of the song to the xray tech and told her my significant experience of writing it. She burst into tears and said, "I do this job all day long. Good news/bad news. The 2 women just before you had reoccuring cancer. Your song needs to be heard, Laurie." WHEW.
So, here it. Proceeds from downloads will be donated to a cancer research non-profit Org.
Loving hugs to you who have traveled or are traveling this journey right now,
~ Laurie
